2011 Volunteer Roles - We Can't Do It Without You!

Thank you to all parents volunteering time to the team – Without you, we could not have the extras that make the season such a success for the girls! Below are just some of the volunteer opportunities.

1. Super Scrimmage – Feedin’ The Need Day

Positions needed include:
  • 50/50 sellers: 1 for every two hours in shifts
  • Concession Stand workers: 2 hour shifts throughout the day
  • Field Marshalls: 4 required
  • Canned Goods Collectors: 4 required
  • Clock Operators: 1 person for every two games

2. Secret Eagles for all games: Secret Eagles are 8½ x 11" posters for each of the girls on the team that the athletic director will post on their lockers before each game. The same poster will be used for JV and Varsity except where the teams play different opponents on the same day, or the rare occasion where only one of the teams play. Secret Eagles for back to back games may be combined in one poster. The posters need to be dropped off at the Athletic Director’s office at least three school days before the game (a week before would be preferable). The objective is to present the message of school spirit and encouragement in a positive way just before each game without disparaging the opponent. Examples of past posters are available at the NDA spring sports parents meeting. This is a great way for the whole family to become involved in NDA Lacrosse. Many of the opponent’s websites can be found at www.ohsaa.org/members.asp if you are looking for mascots to be grasped by Eagle talons. Below is a list of the games with the deadlines:

3. Feed the Team: When teams come from an extended distance we feed them. When our girls travel an extended distance they receive the same courtesy.

We need a volunteer to be coordinator for the game. We will order pizza for both the NDA and Tecumseh JV and Varsity teams and coaches. Each girl will be asked to provide $6 for the pizza. Left over money will be refunded or applied to another expense. In addition, we have sign-ups for families to donate additional food for the meal. We estimate 36 players and 4 coaches per school, so we will need 80 drinks, 80 pieces of fruit (apples, bananas, grapes in a bag) and 80 individually wrapped desserts. We would also ask for volunteers to help serve the food at the game.

4. Concession Stand: We are in need a one or two coordinators for the concession stand. They would be responsible for purchasing food, if necessary (in conjunction with the softball team coordinator), ordering pizza for the games, and making sure the stand is unlocked for games. A JV parent is preferred for this role. We only have concession stand duties for Super Scrimmage and home games when softball is not playing at home.

When signing up for concession stand duties, please remember that it is difficult to watch the game from the concession stand, so JV parents should sign up for Varsity concessions and Varsity parents for JV concessions. We need two parents per game, which means four per night when both teams play. High School aged siblings and grandparents are also welcome to participate. The home games where Lacrosse is responsible for concessions are:

5. Game Programs

6. Senior Night: We will need a Coordinator for Senior awards and gifts, and an announcer for the program. If you would like to serve on a committee for the Senior Night program, please let the coordinator know (once we have a volunteer for this position). There will be a small donation per girl for the Senior awards to be announced once the program is planned.

8. Team Dinners: Team dinners are hosted by volunteer parents, and we are looking for parents willing to host each team for 1-3 team dinners throughout the season. The dinners can take place at your home or in the dining hall after school, and can be one family or jointly with several families contributing food, time or money. Timing, menu, etc. is up to the hosts. If you would be willing to host a team dinner, please let us know and we can help coordinate.

9. Fall Sports Banquet: Lacrosse parents are requested to serve at the Fall Sports Banquet, so that winter sports parents can enjoy the evening.

10. Spirit Wear: To celebrate Lacrosse as a Varsity sport at NDA, we would like to order spirit wear for families and fans to wear to games. We will provide order forms very early on so that the items ordered can be available for the season to show our support for the team!

11. Drivers: Girls are not permitted to drive other teammates to games which are out of town. Although many arrange their own transportation, we have several places for volunteers to note that they are available to drive a carload of girls to the out of town games as needed:

12. Website: Check out the lacrosse team website (http://ndaeaglelacrosse.org) from the NDA Athletics webpage frequently. You will find information about the season, a copy of the volunteer sign-up sheet, volunteer information and photographs from the games.
